Did Capitol Records drop Yellowcard?
Jul 25 2008, 9:38 AM EDT I really don't know if it's a rumor or truth. Did Capitol really drop YC? and why? Do you find this valuable? |

Jul 25 2008, 11:30 AM EDT Yeah they did. Why? I don't know, it hasn't been said. Probably because of record sales not being too high (in their opinion) and also because they merged with Virgin Records and a bunch of artists/bands were dropped in the process. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

And it's because, as SAYCfan said, that their record sales were not so good. Paper Walls didn't get so good critics, and it sold less than Lights and Sounds. Do you find this valuable? |

RE: Did Capitol Records drop Yellowcard?
Aug 2 2008, 9:49 PM EDT Funny thing is, Paper Walls actually got pretty good reviews from the critics! The problem with it, however, was that it wasn't heavily promoted at all. Capitol didn't put much effort into promoting it, so lots of people didn't even know there was a new YC record. I guess they didn't want to "waste" any money promoting another album after Lights and Sounds "failed". And I use "failed" lightly because it sold half a million copies; that's hardly a failure! Aug 4 2008, 4:43 PM EDT Hmm, so they did get good reviews. I guess that some people have got other thoughts than us here in Norway. You see, in Norway, Paper Walls only got a 3 which is bad since it's out of 6. Do you find this valuable? |

RE: Did Capitol Records drop Yellowcard?
Aug 22 2008, 12:43 AM EDT No no no.! The album was released at a bad time. The record labels were going thru a merger. They imediately dropped many bands and left them hanging. The same thing happened to many bands and another Jacksonville band comes to mind. The Red Jumsuit Apperatus (RJA) RJA decided to record their new album and the producer agreed not to be paid until they found a new label. I just want you to be real. Do you find this valuable? |
